Born in Lisbon in 1963, Filipe Alarcão began his studies in design at the School of Fine Arts of Lisbon and later completed a master in industrial design at the Domus Academy in Milan. Alarcão prolonged his stay in Milan and from 1995 to 1997 worked with Michele de Lucchi as a consultant for Olivetti Personal Computers.
His eclectic work varies between interior design – having designed emblematic spaces in Lisbon such as the Delidelux shop – and industrial design projects like furniture, urban equipment, lighting, ceramics and glass. These extended competencies gave him the opportunity to work with several Portuguese and foreign companies: Vista Alegre|Atlantis, Asplund, TemaHome, Schréder, Senda, Cerâmicas S. Bernardo, Larus, Moda Lisboa, just to name a few. Alarcão worked closely with TemaHome, acting has its design director from 2006 to 2010, inserting valuable new perspectives into the company's products.
Alarcão has his own atelier in Lisbon and complements his design practice showing his personal exploitations of different subjects in individual and collective exhibitions.
